River City Days Sporting Events

The following is a more detailed look at the sporting events occurring during the Chaska River City Days:


Chaska River City Days Triathlon

Saturday, July 17th
7:30am
Fireman's Park
Fees: Individual - $50, Relay Teams - $75

The triathlon enters its 7th year, with proceeds benefiting youth recreational programs in Chaska.  The race is just under 23 miles starting with a 1/3 mile swim, out and back in Fireman's Park Lake, at which point an elite wave will start, followed by the rest of the athletes, one every three seconds.  The second portion is a 16-mile bicycle loop between Chaska and Victoria, in which ANSI/Snell approved helmets are required.  The final portion of the race is a 3.1 mile out-and-back run which finishes at Fireman's Park, where the race begins.

You can register online or by mail or by 6:00am on Saturday, however a place is not guaranteed, so it is recommended that you register early.


Chaska River City 5K Run and 2 Mile Fun Walk

Saturday, July 24
7:30am
Downtown Chaska
Fees:

5K Run: $17 (Before 7/4) - $22 (After 7/4)
2 mi Fun Walk: $10 (Before 7/4) - $16 (After 7/4)

The 5K starts in downtown Chaska, ending up at the City Square Park.  The course follows some streets as well as some of Chaska's iconic trails.  The Fun Walk course has yet to be announced.  Trophies will be awarded to the top overall men and women runners, and medals will be awarded to the top two runners in each of the age categories.

Registration for the 5K starts at 6:30am, while the Fun Walk starts registration at 7:00am.

2010 River City Disc Golf Tournament

Saturday, July 17th
9:00am - Recreational Players
12:00pm - Advanced Players

Fees:

Recreational: $12 - or $15 day of
Advanced: $15 - or $20 day of

Each entrant will play 2 rounds or 10 holes, which will determine the winner for the Recreational class, and will determine who advances to the championship round in the Advanced class.  All entrants receive a RCD monogrammed "Beast" disc, the winner of the Recreational class gets a Downs Farm wood brimmed hat, as well as the 2nd runners-up for the Advanced class.  The winner of the Advanced class will receive a portable cage as well as the wood-brimmed hat.


4s Co-Ed Grass Volleyball

Sunday, July 25
Fireman's Park
Fees:

Adult: $100/team, $125 after July 19
18 & Under: $80/team, $100 after July 19

The teams need to include 2 guys and 2 gals, is played on grass, and is pool play followed by a single elimination playoff.  The prizes for the Adults are: 1st place - $500 and t-shirts, 2nd place - $200 and t-shirts, 1st place lower bracket - $80 and t-shirts.  The prizes for the 18 & Under teams is: 1st place - T-shirts and more prizes to be determined.

Registration can be sent via email at gregsayuk@yahoo.com by Monday July 19th.  The email should include the following information: Age division, Team Name, Team Captain and names of players, Team Captain email, Team Captain phone number.


6s Co-Ed Sand Volleyball

Saturday July 24th

Fees: $100/team

The 1st annual 6s co-ed sand volleyball tournament requires that each team has a minimum of 2 for either gender, and that all team members be 18 year of age or older.  Registration must be received by July 15th and all Co-Ed USA Volleyball rules apply.  $150 in Chaska Bucks will be awarded for the 1st place team, and $100 for 2nd place.
